I was taught that the processor could run 100 simple symbols faster than 1 simple+ module I agree that in some cases you have to ie:complex string parsing. It is not the native language and to much can actually slow your program.

simpl plus module toggle quoted messageShow quoted textĮvery instructor I have had at crestron has said to use simple+ only when you have to. But writing posts here is a heck of a lot more fun than the system I should be programming right now! No noticable performance change between the two processors, but the QM gets bonus points because it can run Chip's DirecTV IP module!

Curious to know whether this was purely a 3-series thriller, I ran the same thing on a QM-RMC. An MC3 never skipped a beat with 5 instances of this module (3 iPads + 1 Xpanel + 1 4SM) all active at the same time, plus the rest of the logic for 18 zones of audio and 8 zones DM video. It looks like something that would cause the processor to choke. Audio Zone Scrolling list is about 1000 lines that, among other things, issues volume +/- commands and then processes the ramp values coming back from SimplWin. There's lots of interesting stuff in the demo, but for this discussion look at "SWAMP TP Room GUI Interface (72 Rooms)" and check out the 2 major S+ modules. After dozens of hours messing with the demoand associated modules, I still can't decide if it's the most sophisticated demo ever assembled at Crestron HQ or if Rube Goldberg came back from the dead to work in Rockleigh, NJ. About 6 months so far without a reboot.Ģ. 28 concurrent instances of Satan doing a S+ while(1) loop dance all day and night. We have 28 thermostats running the modified scheduler on a DINAP2.

N++ made it MUCH easier to decipher the original code and it helps with C syntax when writing new stuff.

I nearly gave up trying to modify Creston's scheduler before moving from S+ editor to Notepad++. Client wanted ability to have daily schedules, group tstats to run a single schedule and copy schedules from one to another. But, it's still a BFS+* module that you must wade through to understand/edit. I know what you're thinking, many lines are comments or blank for readability. Crestron's 5/2 thermostat scheduler: 2493 lines of S+. You may want to take a look at these and point out some of the crazier S+ modules you've seen.ġ. I've learned quite a bit on these topics while banging my head modifying Crestron's own S+ modules. not going to pick sides on this one, but will offer some food for thought.

Adding my two cents to the two-headed monster:ġ)could we use a better S+ editor? yes, but not worth Crestron's time if we'll be getting simpl# or some such cleverly named language with hopefully a proper IDEĢ)the nearly religious debate of simplWin (good) vs. This thread is a few days old now, but I'm just catching up.
